Zadie Kennedy Mccracken is a multidisciplinary writer, performer, director and producer based in Naarm. Zadie’s most recent play, You’re Being Dramatic, debuted at Theatre Works to rapt audiences and rave reviews. In 2023, their work Everyone Wants to be Emma was presented at La Mama Theatre to a sold out audience, and they production managed Wit Incorporated’s seminal Bleached. Other notable works include award-winning Salarywoman (Melbourne Fringe), flit (Theatre Works, Melbourne Fringe), CUT (fortyfivedownstairs), Paradise Lots (Darebin Arts, Melbourne Fringe, Pony Cam) and Rules of Love (Union House Theatre).
As a producer, Zadie is interested in supporting underrepresented artists, telling queer and feminist stories, combining arts and education, working with emerging and experimental artists, and working in youth theatre. As a writer, director and performer, they often explore the boundaries of time, queer experience, intimacy and relationality, and excessive performativity.
In addition to their work as a theatre-maker, Zadie writes creative non-fiction and works in education.
